Post by zebra55 »

just picked up a 1968 Leupold brochure off ebay. It has this nice picture of the just released Ruger 1 in it. thought I'd share it. Sorry for the bad photography, but you get the idea..

That's awesome! Leupold and Ruger make a great pairing.

That's neat. Given me something else to look for! Don't suppose there are any other pics where the serial number is visible?

Hey Lee,

I was wrong! Just reading the fine print of the brochure tonight and it does give rifle credits on the inside cover.
The Ruger No 1 pictured belonged to Jack Slack. It is a 7mm Rem Mag with 2 digit s/n 94...maybe you now own it now??

I met Jack Slack many years ago at NRA. I purchased 2 of his No.1's. I knew he had #94, but he told me it had been stolen. Look close at the rib; is there a sight there? #94 is supposed to be a B with sights!!
May be the only 7mm Rem Mag BBS.

can't really be sure about the rear sight being present, it appears that the rib has 2 forward locking areas for the rings and with the front ring being located in the forward position it somewhat hides that area. I tried my best to get a close up pic, but guess photography isn't my strong suit..

That's not normal! Not supposed to be 2 ring mounting slots in front on the rib! Bet that is where the rear sight was.

Lee, here is the cover of the brochure. I believe that Leupold used this same cover multiple consecutive years in the late 60's and early 70's. therefore, if you want the Ruger 1 picture inside, you must look for it.
