Colorful SR1911's

Post by O M CRAZY »

For your viewing pleasure, 2 colorful SR1911's. One is model number 6718 and is what Ruger calls O D green. It is a lightweight commander with the alloy frame. I am not sure if this was a distributor special or an actual Ruger offering.

The second is a model 6735 and has a red frame. It is a distributor special released through Davidson's. It too is a lightweight with an alloy frame.

These are not the only colored frames, in the .45's I have a grey or putter colored one I will show later, and they have a purple in the 9mm. I have limited my collection to the .45 only. Now that Ruger can do colors who knows what will come out next. Maybe GOLD!

Could not add one pic, see next post.

PS; The O M stands for "OLD MODEL" but when I couldn't find any more old models to add to my collection I had to do something to satisfy my Ruger habit. So I started to collect the new SR1911. It would be a small collection how many different 1911's can you make!!?? Well to my surprize they now have over 27 different models!! :o

Vince, I think the new "color" versions will be attractive to the younger buyers and especially the young ladies! Keep buying those 1911s, they will make for a colorful display!? Brass Frame/Lee E

The Red reminds me of a shooting team type scheme. Really great modern look for an antique design. The green.....that's even sexier.

Cirrhitidae....I agree with you the green is my favorite also.

RocDoc.....I believe the purple is a 9mm, probably better for your wife. What didn't she like about it.

Yes 9mm, she did not like the price > $700. She is not into guns, but lets me do my hobby anyway. I have got a couple purple Rugers for her though, just was not on-board with the SR1911 version.

Well Vince, years ago I thought I would chase the new laminate 10/22 and like you I thought what's a few more RUGERS going to hurt....

So what do they do but make about a ZILLION different ones....I admit I gave up and sold most that I had....good luck on this RR.
