Rugers for Sale

Post by d findley »

When I started to get serious about collecting Rugers, in the mid-70s, John Sparkman from Florida was the man to go to. He sold & traded collectable Ruger handguns. Here is an example of the type of guns he dealt in.

Don, this is great and if we had the money in 1976, we could have made some great investments! I kept the Gun Digest list of all the Rugers being offered by John De. in 1985. He had many of the rarest guns known at that time! This was the largest collection of rare Rugers I have ever seen for sale and again, not enough dollars. Thanks for sharing. Brass Frame/Lee E

Wow.
Very cool history.
Thanks for posting this Mr. Findley.
Some quick figuring in my head says he wanted about $4000 for the lot.
Again some pea brain math me thinks this lot would be in the 50 - 60 k range today.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
They say historically the stock market will double your money every 10 years. So, 4k
invested in 1976 would be worth about 64k now. (Lots of assumptions and rounding here!)
Looks like Rugers are a good investment! Think I will buy another safe!!

Cheers,
JAY
I do not "own" these guns, I am but the next caretaker

Oh man, those are some fine Rugers. John sure handled a lot of great guns. I bought a few from him via the Shotgun News when I had enough coins.

Man, if I only had some extra money back then! But, in those days I was shooting all that I bought and didn't think about collecting just accumulating.
