Just picked up my first 3-digit RSS today to add to my modest collection. Looks about 98%(?) with some small dings on the end of the barrel right side. Has some nice plum streaks. Cool stuff is out there.

Sounds like you have picked up a nice 3-digit Flatgate, way to go. Looking forward to seeing some pics.

So, it looks like this gun may be unfired or fired VERY little - no turn line. It cleaned up nice but I think it has been hastily buffed out - probably while assembled. In photos you can see some finish discoloration in the cylinder flutes, and a couple of other spots, that didn't get polished. Might have been covered with an inappropriate lubricant that marred the finish. There was some sticky/waxy stuff on the underside of the top strap that was hard to get off. A small Nick on the edge of the crown has been touched up. I'm thinking about using a Dremel tool with a buffing wheel to bring those spots up to match the rest of the gun. Any advice re that?
Still a great looking 3-digit with a couple of interesting features. The copper streaks are nice. There is a 7 stamped inside the grip frame on the left side and the cylinder is stamped with the serial number. Is that typical?
The seller also through in a nice no-model single-six box with manual and warranty card (with string) that will go with that RSS4.

That is a great looking Single Six in pretty much pristine condition.
A dremel with the felt polishing tips should clean that right up. The conical shaped tip ones will do exactly what you want on the flutes and the regular felt wheels should work on the underside of the top strap. Then use the conical to get into the corners if the flat won't work. For the underside of the top strap though, you might have to go with the very fine dremel wire wheel to get the stuff off and then follow up with the buffing wheels.
