Consecutive flatgates with Ivory
Consecutive flatgates with Ivory
I ended up putting the Ivories on one of these flatgates because I found another set to dress the pair up. I was hoping for a better color match but one set has a little more yellow. Still look good but those of you with a matching pair having ivories did you get lucky in color match or is there a difference? I want them to match as these two have been together since shipped together in September 56 to Omaha NE……. or is it close enough?![Image]()
Re: Consecutive flatgates with Ivory
Hey Kenny,
I'll have to look when I get home from vacation but I'm pretty sure I have a nice whiter set if you wanted to swap out of the yellow set. I don't leave them on the guns, and I prefer the more yellowed versions as they are used for my displayed. I like the whiter ones on guns but the yellowed versions on displays.

Add a buck or three and my opinion is maybe worth a coffee. I think closer matched is a bit better. I like the more yellow better but that's just me. They're beautiful as is. Congrats on such a fine set.

Re: Consecutive flatgates with Ivory
They both look good to me but I think I’d take Troy up on his trade offer and have them both with the brighter white.
Re: Consecutive flatgates with Ivory
I agree......then I can trade Troy out of the icky yellow ones
I do not "own" these guns, I am but the next caretaker
Re: Consecutive flatgates with Ivory
Super nice offer from Troy and I understand him liking the yellow tint…… I think I do too
!
But, not only for the aged look, the yellows have such interesting provenance having belonged to Roy Melcher, I really want to keep them.
I will just keep them like they are for now until and if I happen upon a more yellow set.
I will talk to Troy once he returns…..if his legs havent gave out yet
