Re: Bearcats with gold filled engraving
With so little detail, I'd guess you have a 50th Anniversary edition. Nice guns for sure. Does it have the red plastic box with it?
Re: Bearcats with gold filled engraving
no it is not a 50th aniversary i also have one of those, this guns #54127
thanks
thanks
Re: Bearcats with gold filled engraving
Do you think that is real gold inlay? I often see the cylinder scene and other roll marks filled using a gold Lacquer pencil. A few good pictures would help us out.
Oh, happy that you joined ROCS, welcome aboard !! Maybe you will be able to come to our ROCS Display show in Huntsville at the end of January.

No Sir I am fairly sure it is not real gold it is probably what you say gold laquer pen i will post some photos, my question is, is this something Ruger did at the factory or was it done later by someone else? Thank you also for the welcome, I am excited and looking foreward to learning as much as i can about my favorite gun manufacturer.
Thanks Again

No, Ruger did not do that, it would be an after market job. Still like to see some pictures though.

Re: Bearcats with gold filled engraving
The first Bearcat I purchased was in 1968 when I lived in Missoula, MT and the "engraving" on the cylinder was gold filled. The .22 was used and the gold fill was most likely put there by the previous owner. It was a nice touch and held up well.

Re: Bearcats with gold filled engraving
yessir, big difference from an actual "engraved" cut and inlaid and one of the roll marked guns that someone simply put in Bonanza liquid gold filler, there were many Bearcats done just this way by their owners over the years, as the Bearcat had that 'neat' roll marking, as well as the Bisleys did some years later,,,,nice touch, but, NOT "original , by the factory.
