Here are a few pictures that did not make the cover of the Fall 2016 Digest. Jerred engraved .44 FT S/N 2165.

I think these pictures debunks the often stated notion that Charles Jerred was not an accomplished engraver, based on the examples of the RSSE. A reading of Compliments of Col. Ruger makes it clear that cost was the over riding factor and Jerred was pushed to turn out one revolver a day. The long discusion between WBR and CJ about whether the payment to Jerred would be $25 or $30 per revolver is fasinating and must be viewed with an eye to the business side of the equation.
It is clear from the Digest Cover .44 Flat top that Charles Jerred was a very talented engraver. I have personally handled the Elmer Keith SBH #1806 engraved by Charles Jerred and it is also a quality piece of work.

That is very well done cosidering what Lee has said. Cost is always a factor in most anything we do, business or personal.

SEEMS THAT $170 WAS ABOUT TWICE THE VALUE OF THE SUBJECT REVOLVER, "THEN". STILL ONE HECKOFA DEAL CONSIDERING THE LEVEL OF ENGRAVING........... 8-)
