Sonic cleaners
Per my earlier post on a stuck mainspring and a dirty Red Eagle, any suggestions on what would be a good brand and size of sonic cleaner to purchase for the purpose of cleaning up my Red Eagle collection. Mostly for pistols but could size up for other things. Also any favorite cleaning fluids? Thank...

Re: Mainspring stuck
I took your suggestion and soaked it in Rem Oil last night. Rubber jaws in vice would not hold it so I wrapped it in a small towel and clamped it with the steel jaws. First couple of whacks it moved slightly. New few whacks loosed it enough to be removed. No damage, no new scratches. It is the dirti...

Mainspring stuck
I have had a 03xx s/n Red Eagle for over a year. Went to take it apart for the first time and found the mainspring was stuck. I can get the lever down but the rest of the assembly does not move all efforts to move it have failed. I don't want to ruin the gun. I don't want an unknowing gunsmith to ru...

Red Eagle pistols
Do any of the books on Red Eagle pistols discuss why Ruger made the changes they did to the series. What caused them to go to 5 groove rifling (versoion 1A) and then go back to 6 groove rifling on version 2. The recoil spring support on the version 2 seems obvious but what was the malfunction or deg...

Re: To reblue, or not to reblue. That is the question.
Hey Rick, I have been told that a collectible gun can retain up to 90 percent of its value if the re-blue is professionally done. I bought a Red Eagle 1A that had been re-blued at Ruger. It looks real good and I am very happy with it at a fair price. I also have a P-38 and an Artillery Luger that we...

Re: Old Model .41 Blackhawk
Hey radical rod,
It is a one piece hinged box. I think it may have inherited the new box and later edition of the manual when it went in for the transfer bar mod. The new manual talks about the transfer bar and there is a note in the box as to where the old parts are stashed.
