Ruger did a trial run of Nickel and/or Chrome plated Super Single-Sixes in 1965 and 1968. According to information contained in John Dougan's great book, "Ruger Pistols & Revolvers, The Vintage Years, 1949 - 1973", only 118 of theses unique revolvers were assembled and shipped in July 1965 and August 1968. They were plated by Superior Tibon Plating company which was right across the street from Ruger's Lacey Place plant. It seems that the plating interfered with the regular assembly and production process so the program was discontinued. They are rare guns!!
Shown is serial number 506401, SC6x 22/22 Mag shipped August 1965 and factory letter states "Nickel" plated. Looks like my reflection is even seen in most of the pics...sorry about that!!

This one is complete with its box, outer cardboard shipping carton and all of the papers . I am indeed a luck man to be the proud keeper of this rare Ruger for a while!!
