Here's a link to a post on the ruger forum were an individual picked up one of th 3 known SP101s with a .22 WMR cylinder. From what I can tell it had some rollmark overerstamping and the guy tried to fix it, what a shame. He references one of Chad's post from a couple of years ago. .22 Mag. SP101
Any day without learning is a day of backing up.
Re: .22 Mag. SP101
So why did they not produce them in .22 mag?
Re: .22 Mag. SP101
Ruger obviously worked on the chambering in the SP101.
Some just got out and weren't supposed to. I really don't know why Ruger never ccmmercially offered the Mag. in an SP101.
The ones that I know of, none of them would chamber a .22 Mag or an LR if I remember correctly. The cylinder chambers were never finished.
Too bad on the one the guy tried to fix. It is hard enough gun to get anybody to say its the real thing anyway, and Ruger won't verify it as .22 Mag. Guess that gun is S.O.L. now.
We owned two of the three at one time. One of them had one caliber rollmark stamped over the other.

Hey Guys
Just found this Forum while following a Post by Chet15
Tried, but couldn't join the RF dot com, OR send a message on this thru Ruger Guru
But, I have been on RF dot net for quite some time
Yeah, it's true
I have s/n 570-68353

When I bought it; it did shoot the .22 wmr, BUT would NOT eject the spent Cases
Thought it could be from "Over Pressure" expanding the Cases against the Chamber Walls
I then found a .22lr Cylinder and fit IT to this Frame
So I started calling it my "Super" SP101

The Revolver made a trip to the Sportsman's Gunsmiths, and they polished the Chambers in the WMR Cylinder and re-profiled the Forcing Cone
Now it fires on "all cylinders"
In-fact; I just had it out yesterday and it is SO MUCH FUN to shoot

But it is his gun, his choice...
I once owned a 5-inch Redhawk with factory-made scope scallops , and sent it to a 'smith for a heavy barrel... He called to warn me that it was probably a one-off gun before he did any work! Thanks to him I avoided what would have been a real head-slapper that day!
Still, I'd love a 22mag SP101. Oh yeah. What a great woods gun that'd be.
Ruger???
