#1 sn 6550 ???
I picked up sn 6550 receiver only and would like to put it back to original. Anyone have record of what the original configuration would have been?
Re: #1 sn 6550 ???
I believe back in that time period they would ship just a receiver, so it may have came that way. Additional information would be great if you have it, I'm sure someone who collects the non-prefix models will be helpful.

I would call the factory. For $10 you can get a letter on what it looked like. Hopefully they will be able to tell you whether it had sights and what the forearm style was. The checkering on the wood can probably be figured out from the date it was manufactured.

Yes, I agree with Chad, as back then you could buy either a receiver or a barreled action direct from Ruger...............
Re: #1 sn 6550 ???
not so sure on the info you will get, lately all they have been telling you is caliber, barrel length and light or medium weight. not so long ago I bought a bbb from rowdy which he supplied me with the ruger letter which he got years ago. his letter stated it was shipped with target blocks an no sights. so I did a test and spent the 10 bucks for an updated letter and the only info that was given was the 3 items listed above...
might check with carl ross to see if he has the sn recorded

According to Carl Ross ,His research records show 6550 was a BB 243.
