2015 Ruger #1
2015 Ruger #1
Surprised there has been no chatter here about the new distribution channel for #1s this year. Plenty of talk on a couple other forums. Any thoughts, likes, dislikes of the offerings this year? With all the rumors of the demise of the model, I found the news exciting myself.

Re: 2015 Ruger #1
I think Jason @ Lipsey's will do a good job handling the No.1 rifles in 2015. I also think the success of this years offerings will have an impact on what happens next year. Little disappointed to see the 375 H&H in the lineup as the 1H. It was the 1H for 2013 and there seems to be quite an "overhang" of these 2013 rifles still for sale!
I am looking forward to the 257 Weatherby.

I'm still on the fence over the RSI announcement, but if something not desirable, the 1S 30-06 is very attractive to me.
Re: 2015 Ruger #1
I haven't kept up over the years, but I thought that the 2015 list looked good, with something for every hunter. 223, 257, 7-08, 30-06, and 375. These have everything huntable in North America covered, and much of the rest of the world. If you can't get your game with one of these, then you might need to try another sport.
I just mounted a scope on the No.1 I gave my son, so I need to pick one from the above list for me.

Was the 1s ever done in the 30-06 other than special runs?

Re: 2015 Ruger #1
I suppose the answer would be no. There a few true 1S (26" Barrel) out there, but most were made up by Busy Bee from 1B barreled actions. The unique thing about this 2015 30/06 offering is the 24" B weight barrel, with an AH forearm and sights. Going to have a little more weight and length than the 1A.

Thanks Lee I almost called you today for the answer. I think I may need the s with that 24 in. barrel have not had a 06 in years, sounds like the ticket.

Theory(s) as they are...................Perhaps the 375 was put into this pgm due to existing inventory...........just a thought. I'd never imagined that offering to occur this year.

HKE28,
Serial#'s will tell on the 375's. I just learned that Davidson's has a whole wad of 9.3x74Rs. Did not get any serial#s, so don't know what year they were made.

That was my first thought too Splitz.Hawkeye28 wrote:Theory(s) as they are...................Perhaps the 375 was put into this pgm due to existing inventory...........just a thought. I'd never imagined that offering to occur this year.
As for the 2015 offerings, I think they could have done a lot worse. Not sure I need a 1A 7-08, but it would save my still NIB red pad 1A 7-08; I really want to shoot the darned thing, but don't really want to be the one to "deflower" it.
The 30-06 sounds like an interesting rifle that overcomes the yawn factor that existed for new production until last year's new twists.
I also think the 6.5x55 RSI will capture a lot of folks attention (and maybe some of their dollars).
