Droping the S from logo?

Does anyone know the story why they got rid of the S in the Ruger logo? Corporate still named Strum, Ruger, so why throw out tradition?

That is the $64,000 question. I do not know the company's thought process on this. As a general thought and speculation, Companies are always :tweaking" names and logos. The "hard R" eagle logo also came out about this time. As the firearms were always known as Rugers, some bright accountant or lawyer, with no knowledge of the history, had this bright idea an the change was made. Hard to fathom the rationale behind the change.
