Jay, the letter was worth the wait, all you need now is any early box. Beautiful package indeed.

Any day without learning is a day of backing up.

Sweet FG. Bud!!!
I sure wish they never stopped making the Finger Groove Sporter either. they are lovely to hold while shooting.
I've only seen a couple of these up here in Canada. Guys are asking big $$ for them here....
Although all prices are skyrocketing here. Average Standard RB is posted for $400-$500. LOL

WATERTENDER... I like this as well. Correct me if I'm wrong. That's an English Grip with a Schnabel forend and duckweave checkering.?Watertender wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 10:53 pm JAYDAWG that is a thing of beauty. The 10/22 is probably the best 22 rifle made. I put one together with an Altamont straight grip stock, 16 inch compact barrel and BX trigger that is a joy to handle.

Re: 4 digit Finger Groove Sporter 10-22
Ken1187 I have never heard it called "duckweave" checkering. I would say English style stock is correct and schnabel is correct as well. Some would call it a Frankenruger but it handles well and suits me perfectly. I have another in stainless that I made up the same way. I have taken various parts and mated them up until something seems exactly right. The 10/22 has endless possibilities and can be made up in almost any style you can dream up.
Some people sit on $.05 of knowledge like it is the treasure of Egypt. I will teach anyone $.10 worth just to prove a point...

Jay, I don't think I ever asked on this... Is the barrel address with INC or without?

It has the INC barrel.
Workmans book states non INC barrels only came on the carbine, and was used in 1964 & 1965.
This one having a build/ship date of Feb 1966 seems to confirm his findings.
This receiver must have been at the BOTTOM of the parts bin!!

Yes, conforms to Ruger's production procedures.... nothing out of the ordinary except being an early serial numbered receiver that finally made it to the assembly process.
Great gun.... might be the very earliest serial numbered 10/22SP !
