SSM4FI (6509) ALL BLUE?
SSM4FI (6509) ALL BLUE?
Just snagged this on GB. Could be a re-finish but it doesn't look like it to me. Sure would appreciate having all your expert eyes on these seller photos. It was shipped in 2000. i

Looks good to me! I don't know about the checkering on the grips though, can't recall Ruger ever putting grips out like that.

The grips are wrong - should be wearing ivories. But was the frame ever case colored?
Never seen a turn line quite like that.

Looks like the cylinder latch isn't coming down enough. Just enough to come out of the cylinder notch but not enough to clear the cylinder completely. Possible cylinder latch problem or hammer problem?
Doesn't look to me to have been refinished, writing is sharp and no dishing out of the pin holes. Or the refinisher is VERY good.

Ruger Records says that this gun was shipped as case color/blue so who knows. Doesn't matter. I like a blue fixed sight thirty-two. I put ivories back on it after cleaning it up. The serial numbers are scratched on the upper right inside of the grip frame and on the underside of the ejector rod housing, which has a higher polish and deeper blueing than the rest of the gun. Could that indicate a factory refinish?

I think someone installed a lower power hammer spring but the hammer and trigger are original. When the gun is cocked there are two distinct clicks but it does not have half-cock. What would account for this - my other New Models are one click.

The finish looks like its by Ruger.
But by serial number it should have a CCH finish.
Stranger things have happened at Ruger, maybe it left with blue finish... but no way to prove.

I'm still curious about why the ERH has an obviously higher polish and Blueing with the SN electro-penciled on the underside. I pulled the ERH from my 6511 - it is not marked but the barrel has the serial numbers electro-penciled underneath, right next to the frame. The 6517 has no numbers under there. Interesting.
