Found something I have only heard about. But it breaks my heart.
I came across nice piece recently but I am frustrated that it has some issues. First off the right side of the revolver has very light discoloration from surface rust that was probably caused by storing it in the box. Secondly while the gun it self appears to have not been fired (I can't be positive) the grips has all sorts of scratches and dings.

It looks pretty nice to me! I got a Old Model Super, but not one of the boxed ones.

Boxes are not our friend for storage..............

A good one to find for sure.
It appears to be a "long frame" (not 100% sure,) so yes,, a better looking set of grips would be a hard thing to find. And as noted above,, storing them in those boxes is NOT a good idea.
Now,, if it's a regular grip frame,, you can have an easier time getting a better set of grips.

Take the grips of and if you see a small "c" stamp good luck finding a better set but the good louck is it is a LONG FRAME"
I hope it is but the box doesn't look cut out at the bottom enough to be a long frame but I have been wrong before but just once though....

Thanks Radicalrod, I have heard about the Longframes. I was alway under the impression that they were Supper Blackhawk length grips, not XR3 length. I pulled the grips and i can not find a "c" anywhere on the wood grip panels or the grip frame. I have a few early medallion Super Blackhawk grips that I tried out on this and they fit great. So is the Long Frame dragoon style grip frame longer than the standard dragoon Super Blackhawk frame? The measurement from the box frame to the bottom of the cut out is 7/16" of an inch. This also does not have the Ruger logo on the barrel.

I stand corrected, not a long frame. As such,, the period correct Super Blackhawk grips can be swapped to give you a better looking set.
RadicalRod is correct in his info on the grips & the "C" stamping.

Yes the frame is longer standard grips are too short and the case has more clearance at the bottom ......
They are hard to tell without removing the grips and checking for the little c stamp....

I owned 4025 for a while. Similar issue, but not nearly as extensive. It was cased, had a short frame and was high-polished and had no eagle logo, a very rare combo, maybe 8-10 out there. Light scale was mostly on two sides of the cylinder. I had thought about having the cylinder re-blued, but never got around to it.
I believe it may still be for sale through MOBY on Guns International.
