Hello Ruger BearCat gurus. We are an FFL out in Western Colorado, and we pick up an early Ruger BearCat that has us curious. The serial number is 1908. We're having a hard time finding much information on this serial number range. Pretty much only one piece of information written by Bill Hamm in 2005, which states very few BearCats were made in 1960 in the serial range from 1000-1999. The gun has some wear, but functionally great. Any information or comments would be super helpful. Thank you!

Re: Ruger BearCat Serial
Welcome Dan, your Bearcat #1908 is indeed extremely rare. Very few known. Just one thing, you probably already have but be sure to check the number "1" in your serial number and make sure it's not the letter "I" which would be an Alphabet Bearcat. Let me know so I can record it in my records.

Re: Ruger BearCat Serial
I came across a similar situation with the Bearcat. Below are the pictures I took of the bearcat serial number as well as a Blackhawk with the serial number 1 stamped in the serial number. Hope this helps identify if yours is an "I" or a number 1.

Yessir, and great pictures to show the difference as this has come up over and over again in past years with the Bearcats , especially the "alpha cats".......
