2025 Ruger Display Show 15th Anniversary Edition (3)

The display features five factory nickel plated Super Single Sixes and one special “S” gun that represents “The rest of the story”. In 1965 and 1968 Ruger nickel plated approx. 120 guns to cover a batch of roughly 300 discolored frames. Best known are the 120 nickel plated guns. To nickel plate, the guns had to receive a high polish and certain friction points had to be relieved. After Ruger had nickel plated 120 guns, they decided to sell off the balance “as is” in different configurations. There were an unknown number of guns that had received the high polish but were not nickel plated. This small unknown number of guns were sold as “S” guns (seconds or samples). At this point only Five “S” guns are known.
My collection features the only known consecutive pair of nickel-plated guns, serial number 506385 and 506386, one of nineteen nickel plated guns finished with a black anodized grip frame, the “S” gun and two other nickel-plated examples.

Ruger Anniversary & Commemoratives

I have always been a collector and a restorer throw-out my life
and it started early in my teens. I have restored Model A Fords
and Pontiacs to 100 point concourse condition. But I still like to
collect them in their original condition like when they came out
of the factory.
Ruger firearms have always been at the top of my list for
collecting due to their strength and simplicity, but most of all
their beauty and reliability. The display I have put together is
one of my favorite collections. It’s called Ruger Anniversary and
Commemoratives. Mr. Ruger had a vision to produce a firearm
that the everyday person could afford and that legacy has
carried on for 75 years. It gives me great pleasure to honor him
by showing his legacy at this show.

My display, titled "A Window Into The Super Redhawk" is intended to offer a brief Insite as to what was made available and some of the attributes that made the Super Redhawk stand alone. On display are two examples at opposite ends of the spectrum. The first is an early example (2009) of the .480 Ruger in Target Gray finish and a 7.5" barrel. This is the largest caliber ever offered in a Ruger Handgun. The second example is the newest offering (2023) from Ruger in the .22 Hornet cartridge and is the smallest caliber ever offered in the Super Redhawk, or any centerfire Ruger handgun for that matter. It features the satin stainless steel finish and 9" barrel. Each are displayed on Hand crafted wood burned stands featuring scenes depicting the great outdoors. Also featured are examples of factory ammunition, both from the era of introduction of each cartridge, as well as current offerings. Each firearm is represented with advertisements and magazine articles highlighting the Model and including factory "spec sheet" data and production model numbers and years of production.
