Red Eagle Grip

Post by arcticruger »

Sometimes you just have to shake your head.. :|

Here’s a grip from a 1951 Red Eagle. The screw holes have been damaged and the repaint of the medallion is pretty bad with some paint outside the eagle. You can see the bump in the breast from the stem being staked, probably why the repaint was attempted. Otherwise texture looks to in excellent condition showing that the grip wasn’t used much.

Yes, probably used a Sears screwdriver to remove those larger diameter heaed screws, as the first ones ,that had used the 'escutcheons' in the holes the screw head was smaller diameter,,,some even had the same screws, smaller heads in th grips the escutcheons were NOT used so looked funny with an "undersized" screw in a large hole,,,oh well,,,appears the medallion has the "brushed" background, nice early medallion,,,,,,again the early ,two piece medallion was slightly raised ,off the surface of the grip panel...nice picture
