RUGER WEBSITE SERIAL NUMBER LISTINGS

Post by flattop44 »

The link below is to the Ruger firearms serial number ranges listing on their website. It will provide a general idea of the year that your Ruger firearm was made. Of course to get the specifics you would need to print a form from their website and mail it in with your $10 payment for each firearm that you are requesting the info about.

This listing isn't 100% reliable though, right?
You should consider using sausage stuffers if you like sausages.

True, it's not perfect but a usually a pretty good guide. The only real way is to get a factory letter.

All the Hawkeye and Ruger No. 1 serial number references end in 2015

It appears that the Ruger Company has not kept all of this information updated. As you know, a $10 Letter will get you the the month, year and where the gun was shipped to if you really want to know.

I've found that when you request the $10 letter, a nicely worded cover letter asking them specifically what you're looking for or questioning may help.

I found what I thought was a factory made ROUND butt SERVICE Six ..... sent a cover letter asking them if it was possible, how could it be, what's the back story, etc. A nice lady there called me to confirm the butt design the roll mark, then followed up with a very detailed letter.

Worked for me that way also asking about a 1st year Security Six with an "S" stamped after the serial number.

When I click the link in the first post I'm taken to a page for instruction manuals, not S/N's and dates. I'm obviously missing something.

And considering what I've heard letters on Colts and Winchesters cost the $10 for a Ruger letter sounds like a serious bargain. Wish I had some worthy of lettering.

LDB, the link has changed over the past seven years. Here is the latest one:
