Taryn and I's display in Tulsa

Post by twriggen »

As I was telling people at the show in Tulsa this was the hardest display that Taryn and I have put together. Not when it came to finding the guns but on the display layout. If we hadn't been married for 30 years, there might not have been another one. 8-)

The guns in our display were the catalog options from 1949 to 1963. If you picked up a Ruger catalog between those years these were your options to order. We started out with the 1949 Red Eagle on the back board and ended with the Hawkeye that was produced in 1963. We did take a little liberty and included a light weight "S" gun, a real one and not a counterfeit, even though they were not shipped until 1964.

As you look at the pictures you will see an assortment of other items on the display table and back board for items of the time period. This display is about 2/3rds of the full display that will be on display at the 2026 NRA convention in Houston representing the RCA.

There was definitely some stiff competition this year. We were told when they came around to hand out the awards that it was a toss-up between our display and Dana's awesome 10/22 display.

Outstanding Display !!
No small feat winning 1st place at Tulsa as Bill noted. The amount of work it took to build it, is a pure labor of
love ! I look forward to your 2026 NRA Display. ;)
Super job to both of you.
Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations on that well deserved recognition. Wish I could have been there to see it set up.
