“S” marked MKI/II/III

Post by Rickkling »

Now that I’ve accumulated most of the “collectible” guns in the MK series, I’m running out of things to buy!
What I don’t have is a seconds or “S” marked gun.
If anyone has one that they would be willing to part with, let me know.
I don’t know if it’ll be in my budget, since I’ve never seen one for sale, but
Let me know.
Also, any other rare and/or unique mk’s.
I currently have:
All types red eagles, duplicates, overroll, u.s. marked (MKI, no MKII)
T514, and several of the MKII/III collectibles.

Not sure about the "S" marked pistols but Chad addresses some "U" marked ones on page 174 of his "Encyclopedia of Ruger Pistols".

[/quote] what's a overroll gun. In all my years of collecting these never heard that term. I have a few S guns several D guns and a couple with upside down roll marks.

Here is a T512 S prefix and the other 6" standard S on top of receiver. I know of another T512 with the S on opposite side of serial number just don't have a picture on my phone of it. Good luck in your search.

What is an "Overroll" gun. Don't think I've heard that term before
Could you explain. Thanks

I’m so sorry for the waaaay late reply.
The “over roll” as I was told it was known as, has the stamping on the right side of the receiver stamped upside down over the stamping on the left.
Kinda like a coin with a double die stamp.
I’ve heard it also called a double roll.

Rickkling I have two of those, one is a 10 prefix 4" barrel the other is a 6" with a 11 prefix. What barrel length and prefix is yours. Now I know of three.

Better picture of the RST6. These pictures are off my computer so sometimes it gets little lines in them.

Why is one roll marking upside down?
