You have to do what YOU want, not appease an onlooker. Many here may look at anew thread but if they don't really have a vested interest in Ruger Six series revolvers they look and with no pictures, they don't see any reason to give a comment.
It is a good explanation of where the work was done and I'm sure their are members who know/heard of Bob Coogan and they may just come back with pictures of guns they own that were done by him.
I am betting that the Speed Six with a hard chrome finish probably looks pretty nice and (my opinion) ebony grips might just set it off nicely.
The serial number was explained correctly. Ruger put it on the bottom of frame on all the Six series from day one when they started making them in 1970. At that time all then grips fit the frame flush so the s/n was easy to see. Even when they put oversize grips on (Jay Scott and Herret were the first, then others) the grip makers cut out a portion of the bottom of the grip so that the s/n could be seen clearly (to meet BATFE requirements). No real need to retool the Six series build line to put it on the left.
If you are happy with the trade, I would do it. If you don't really have any wants/needs/feelings for the guns you are going to trade, I'd do it and not look back.
Value assistance?
Re: Value assistance?
No, the trades are nothing special. Good stuff of course, but no meaning to them otherwise. I don't have photos or I'd have posted them. The ones I received are some weird format I can view but won't post or share. I'll be taking and posting once I get it. I'll put the grips on and give it a chance but from the photos they don't speak to me at all. I built a set on Badger and they're upward of $300 so I'll probably try to sell them. And I agree with what you said. I just thought a few more might have opinions to share. The meaning point is strong. That would be an S&W Model 13 that was my dad's. I wouldn't trade it for 100 Rugers, or anything else. Thanks.
