Bought it off GB, someone left it stored in a holster. Started calling it Rust Bucket. Looked pretty down in the mouth, decided to give it a face-lift, make it proud again! It came without the flat gate or the grips. I added those. I sent it to Ruger with the flat gate, serrated er button, steel long throw erh and the early base pin latch. Came back with everything except the base pin latch. Came back with the present split-nut latch.
The original probably got lost in the bluing tank or slipped thru the basket, such small parts.

I just got it back today, very pleased with what Ruger did. Also had the gf powder coated. I sent it in without grips, a xr3 grip frame. Came back with a well fitted set of rose wood grips on the om xr3 frame!! Can't say enough about Ruger service. If anyone can use a set of om rosewood grips with squashed chicken medallions, let me know!

Hey Jay

I don't know who did the conversion. The frame is not stamped. I sent it back to them with the conversion kit that came with it installed. They did the hammer, trigger and base pin up nice! Does anyone need a like new om ss like new conversion kit? I guess they lost the first gen base pin latch in the bluing tank or it fell thru the basket. Those are such small parts. Good news is, they did it for free!!
Ruger did the powder coat on the grip frame. When I sent it to them, I included a letter that noted what I wanted done, the grip frame was one that I noted. I did not send grips, I was told by a couple folks that they are easy to lose track of during the bluing process and get lost.

I am gonna hafta spend more time here and learn a bit more about posting pics. Apparently can't copy and paste. I just acquired a light weight I would like to post pics of.

I gave it a good home. This is a presentation box I got with another ss last year. Wasn't in good shape. I refinished it and put new hinges on it, just been sitting around........ And I know not to store the ss in the box!! I did some research, Ruger didn't send any standard ss out in presentation boxes. This one was fitted by someone, looks kinda like a S&W box.

"I don't know who did the conversion."

I think Ruger stopped marking the frame. I think they decided that all they had to do was record the fact they did the conversion etc in their records.

That looks pretty darn good in that presentation box. You and Ruger did it up right, you should be proud of it.

Gotta keep the cops away!
My 'puter went down a month ago, so I haven't been on ROCS lately. Tried to sign in on my phone, got locked out after so many attempts. Got laptop up and running, figured hoe to change my password. On this and a bunch of other sites!
