Gun show, what to look for
Gun show, what to look for
Ok, gun show Saturday. I want to look for a .3xx SA, any of the .3 calibers. No clue what I should look for or look out for. I'm hoping for a 5.5"-6.5" model. Any and all advice on specific models/features/etc. appreciated.

Wow, that's opening a can of worms. You have:
Old Model Blackhawks
New Model Blackhawks
Vaqueros
New Vaqueros
New Model .32 H&R Mag Super Single sixes
New model 32-20/32 H&R Mag Convertible Blackhawks
OM and NM 357/9mm Blackhawks
And probably some I missed, but you did say SA'a so I won't mention the Ruger DA's

I'd go with an BKH34 (Old Model 357 w/ 4 & 5/8"s barrel). If you could find a convertible that would be a plus. For a 5 & 1/2" barrel, I really like the NM Flattop convertible. May be the only option in that length other than the Single-Seven in 327 Fed Mag.

Yeah, that's me. Always trouble. I thought maybe there's certain S/N range(s) in certain models one should always look for, or look out for. Or that caliber xxx is not a good idea in Y model. Or I don't know what. I'm not looking for collectible. Just a decent go have fun at the range gun. I've got $600 to take. That may mean there's nothing available to me anyway.RoninPA wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2026 10:48 am Wow, that's opening a can of worms. You have:

I'd love to find the Single-Seven but I probably won't find anything. But meeting two friends so it will be a fun afternoon if nothing else.taterark wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2026 12:04 pm I'd go with an BKH34 (Old Model 357 w/ 4 & 5/8"s barrel). Hey, you never know what can turn up in the unlikeliest places. You might be surprised.
