Medium Sporter vs Tropical Rifle?

Post by 3000fps »

How do you tell the difference between a medium sporter 1-B and a 1-H Tropical rifle other than the caliber? There's no box either. Thanks

A "B" has a B weight barrel. A No.1 H would have much heavier "C" or "D" weight barrel. Im at the NRA annual meeting right now, but I believe the muzzle of a "B" barrel measures 0.650 (just under 5/8").

No expert, but B has no sights, A, S, H have sights, although there are some configurations that depart from what I said, especially the older the edition. Don't know barrel dimensions, but I've seen enough to tell the difference by sight. Probably no help though.

also Bs have a semi beavertail forearm (sling swivel on forearm) where as the Hs have alex henry forearms (sling swivel on barrel)..also typically Bs barrel length is 26" (although this year it comes with a 28") and the Hs are 24"

if you go to the ruger web sight under no 1s you can view the pics
