unique early 10/22 bolts
Re: unique early 10/22 bolts
I have them packed now and cant find my other pics. These holes are for the pin that is in all bolts. It's just that these holes go all the way through where in a normal bolt the hole for the pin doesn't go all the way through the face of the bolt. There seems to be no advantage other than a possible production issue. There would be no reason for this as a aftermarket modification. The fact they shipped the same month,11/64, makes me certain they are factory. I bet there are a few more out there.

I checked with a good friend that used to be in charge of the 10/22 production line and he replied with the below statement.
It the through hole that you mentioned near the firing pin rebound pin stop hole? I looks like it is in about the right area. I wonder if early on they had a through hole instead of a blind hole.
They were original made in Southport Connecticut.
This indicates that this is a factory condition to me and was either an error where someone drilled the hole all the way through in error on a few bolts and they decided to use them as is.
