Old model Single-six Rss5 Convertible

Post by jg4347 »

Hi a friends grandpa recently passed and the grandkids were allowed to choose some items of his they would most like to have. One of the items my buddy wanted of his grandpa's was his .22 call Ruger pistol. He got the pistol and now we're just trying to figure out what we can about it. It is in the original box that says .22 call Single Six catalog no. Rss5 51/2" Bbl. S/N 500xxx. It has both the .22lr and .22wmr cylinders. The magnum cylinder is in its original box in a red velvet bag. It has also had the Ruger conversion kit installed by Ruger all old pieces from the conversion are with the gun. Best we can tell is that it shipped in 1968. We would appreciate it if any members would provide us with anymore details as well as an estimated value of this pistol.

Thanks

There ought to be a D at the end of the serial#. The 5XX,XXX range was for the Super Single Six, but some Single Sixes were numbered in this series. Apparently, the worker doing the serial numbering did not get the word! If there is no D, then it slipped through. A pretty rare Single Six!

Yep, your friend made a really good choice. The D500xxx Single-Sixes are pretty rare guns.
