My best friend, his wife, and me and my wife went to a gun show today in Cave City, KY. Didn't buy a thing. ON the way home he wanted to stop at this gun shop in Elizabethtown, so we did. There I found this old model Single Six convertible, with the box, instruction manual, red felt bag for the extra cylinder, and the original receipt! Even has the wax paper it shipped with. If you notice the receipt it says Sumner's Feed and Hardware. Well, this was the grandfather, and then father, of the man I worked for 7 years at Knob Creek Range. Notice too the original price of $69.50! I just had to have it.
Very Nice! When you can come across something like that it gives you a special feeling. The fact that you have a connection to the place that originally sold it makes the purchase that much sweeter. I can remember my 1st new handgun coming down the skate wheel conveyor at a long defunct chain store. It was a Ruger but not a single action. (RST6 in an RST4 box) The catalog said they sold the shorter model but the longer one was what came down the conveyor. Soon as I held it I knew it fit just right so I took that one instead of them looking for the shorter one. That particular one grew feet many years ago along with several other guns due to a family member with a drug problem but I still remember it like it was yesterday. It has been replaced with 2 KMK models but I still can feel how good the original felt & fit me. Glad you got such a nice piece with the original paperwork & box
Some people sit on $.05 of knowledge like it is the treasure of Egypt. I will teach anyone $.10 worth just to prove a point...
