First Variation Lightweight

Post by Rugerologist »

Here is my 1956 flat gate tri-color. This one is a shooter and does have a brother which belonged to my Grandfather. Although he used it, as did my father, it is now retired. I would like to find a factory booklet. As always, enjoy!

That is a great looking Tri-Color, one of my favorite RSS Flatgates. Very nice box too, fine package.

And you say a shooter! This looks to me as a real collectible, especially with the box. If this is a shooter I can't wait to see your collectibles.

My post was probably a bit confusing......the one in the photos is not my grandfathers. That one has been "loved" a lot and is now retired. I'll dig it out sometime for you. The one I've shown does show some holster wear and you probably noticed the wear on the medallion. I never lower this hammer from half cock. It's been taken care of but I do shoot it and the majority of my firearms are shooters. Of course, I wouldn't shoot some of them but firearms are meant to be used. A lot of what I buy is for a purpose.

Also, there is some discoloration to the hammer spur. I've never thought about addressing it though.

Very wise, only let the hammer down from full cock. The lack of heavy chips on that cylinder demonstrate you know what you are doing. That slight tarnish on the hammer and.blue loss tip of barrel just look like "character" to me, ain't nothing wrong with that on a 60 year old very fine Light Weight!! :)

By random chance, does anyone have a spare first ed. booklet that you are also willing to part with?

I may have an extra one but not able to get to my stash right now. Be awhile but if you have not found one in a couple of weeks I may be able to help you.
