M77 with modified stock
I purchased a M77 in 300 Win. Mag made in 1988 a few years back at an auction that appears to have been modified by a previous owner. The forearm end has been cut at an angle. Has anyone seen this done to one before?

I have never seen one modified like that but I sure do love the figure in that buttstock, beautiful.

Yeah me neither, but it certainly didn't keep me from grabbing it. You normally see that good of wood on earlier models, kinda surprised me that it wasn't older.

I have the same caliber in the same model from 1987. Mine has some "saddle soars" from being carried in a scabbard on horse back
The wood on your gun is not factory, but has very nice grain. I believe the forend is also a custom job. I have taken three elk and two mule deer with mine. One of the flatest shooting guns I own. Brass Frame/Lee E

Yeah that's my thoughts, somebody did some custom work on it, the wood grain is more typical of what you'd find on an early No.1. Love the M77's, have a few of them.Brass Frame wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 4:20 pm I have the same caliber in the same model from 1987.
