I posted a couple pictures down in the pictures thread of my two kids with the .308 and .375 #1s, respectively.

I've actually got both of my #1s now over with another gunsmith working on them.

He's got my daughter's .308 RSI International, putting a laminate RSI International stock on it. I had to get the laminate mannlicher stock made custom. In addition thereto, I'm getting my 1H .375HH converted to an "RSI-esque" mannlicher stock on it also, and the same fella who made the laminate mannlicher stock for my daughter's .308 is making an identical matching stock for the .375, but widened and inletted around that heavy barrel.

I'm still going with a 20" standard mannlicher fore-end on the factory 24" .375 barrel, so the overall profile when he's done will be something akin to a falling-block single-sock Nylon 66 look, with the stubby barrel sticking out the end. Or like the really old-school Mausers for those familiar with them. I was concerned about the barrel-band forward of the standard fore-end, but the smith told me not to worry, he had a way around that - so I'm looking forward to seeing them when he's done too.

My thought behind it is to get a pair of matching, go-anywhere, do-anything #1s in stainless laminate, and have them as "father/daughter" rifles my daughter and I can go out together as she grows. Of course, in another 10 years or so, I might be wanting her to take the .375 and I'll shoot the .308 :D

I don't have any pictures yet of those getting worked on, but once I get some pictures, I'll share them out.

See if these will work — a few more of my son, a .375H&H #1 and his buffalo.

Buffalo was 190 yds out. 270gr JSP PowerShok. He put it middle of forehead, dead-center between the eyes.

Here’s me packaging both #1s to be retro-fitted with matching laminate mannlicher stocks.

These will be matching “daddy-daughter” rifles when they come back.

And my daughter with her .308 RSI. She’s still got a few years to really grow into it, but she loves shooting it at the range with me. She uses a lead-sled and I aim and then hold the rifle for her in the sled for now.

Not shown: since my dad passed, I also have his old Nylon66 that he taught me to shoot on, and I mostly teach her on the .22, (but she really does like shooting her .308).

I’ve been thinking about looking for one of the 10/22 stainless mannlichers also, just because I like that style, and it will be really close to her .308 form-factor wise.

Here’s those pics:

1) Daughter

2) The custom laminate mannlicher #1 stocks we had made. I wanted something really subdued and natural, like a plain nutmeg laminate that still looked really close to a natural walnut, but the only laminate the guy had was a Royal Jackaronda (sp?) , but for as hard as it was to find someone to make them in laminate, I’m not complaining about the color. And they turned out really good. I’ve been calling the color “Royal Jackalope”. :D

3) Packed up to get worked on.
