I love Ruger firearms my first firearm was a 10/22 from 1981 got it for my 16th birthday. Now I have more Rugers than any other brand in my small but cherished collection.
I picked up a tang safety m77 rsi 7mm-08 a while back.
Story behind this gun is that it was purchased at an estate sale back prior to 1992. Story goes the original owner was a friend of Bill Ruger and this rifle was pulled preproduction by Bill for this person. Unfortunately there is no documentation to prove this. Serial number is 77-159xx putting this one as a 1982 and outside chet15's serial number list. It appears to be unfired, I don't have anything other than the gun unfortunately.
Worst-case I have a true collectable that I wish I could shoot but if it is unfired I will keep it that way.
I blacked out the last 2 digits.
Any information and or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

The serial number lists everybody sees in the Reference of Ruger Firearms are serial numbers that have been reported or that I have actually handled. The only way to update those listings for posterity is to provide that info to the RENE editor, which I highly recommend
