Ruger Bianchi/Cathey Flapholsters

Post by chet15 »

For Sale:
A full set of cataloged Ruger/Bianchi flapholsters, produced 1977-1981. Note that Bianchi produced approximately 170,000 holsters of which they said approximately 10% were left handed. Note also that the Old Army models are the rarest, especially left hand and we also had a tough time finding the 7-1/2" Blackhawk, especially in left hand (don't know if they were the most popular and they couldn't be found easily or what the deal was at the time).

1. RH4 Bianchi 4-5/8" Single-Six, right hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150
2. RH4 Bianchi 4-5/8" Single-Six, left hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150
3. RH5 Bianchi 5-1/2" Single-Six, right hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150
4. RH5 Bianchi 5-1/2" Single-Six, left hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150
5. RH6 Bianchi 6-1/2" Single-Six, right hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150
6. RH6 Bianchi 6-1/2" Single-Six, left hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150
7. RH9 Bianchi 9-1/2" Single-Six, right hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150
8. RH9 Bianchi 9-1/2" Single-Six, left hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150

9. HN4 Bianchi 4-5/8" Blackhawk, right hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150
10. HN4 Bianchi 4-5/8" Blackhawk, left hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150
11. HN6 Bianchi 6-1/2" Blackhawk, right hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150
12. HN6 Bianchi 6-1/2" Blackhawk, left hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150
13. HN7 Bianchi 7-1/2" Old Army, right hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150
14. HN7 Bianchi 7-1/2" Old Army, left hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150
15. HN8 Bianchi 7-1/2" Blackhawk, right hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150
16. HN8 Bianchi 7-1/2" Blackhawk, left hand NIB with bag and mini-paper $150

Others (and variations):
17. RH6 Bianchi 6-1/2" Single-Six, right hand... stamped "5-1/2" & 6-1/2" SINGLE-SIX" in normal position on loop (Note that these must have been a way to consolidate the number of holster models offered, by combining the 5-1/2" and 6-1/2" into one offering). Lightly used with bag and mini paper $125

18. HN7 Bianchi 7-1/2" Blackhawk, right hand... stamped "6-1/2" & 7-1/2" BLACKHAWK" on upper portion of loop (again, this stamp was used to consolidate model offerings??). Lightly used... $125

19. HN8 Bianchi 7-1/2" Blackhawk, right hand... stamped "6-1/2" & 7-1/2" BLACKHAWK" on normal lower portion of loop. Used, $125

20. HN7 Bianchi 7-1/2" Old Army with RCA logo on flap (200 made). Very lightly used with box, bag and mini paper. $170

21. Buckeye Sports Bianchi flapholster, made for the 6-1/2" Buckeye Special models in .32-20 or .38-40, there were two different colors, this is the light brown... NIB... $150.

Cathey Ruger flapholsters:
Note that Cathey was another company that probably made the first Ruger flapholsters of the same pattern circa 1977 with large eagle logo just like the Bianchi made holster. These do not have the Cathey name on the holster but instead have a Ruger eagle logo stamped on the loop with "RUGER" below. They were sold as Ruger flapholsters under the same catalog numbers as noted above. One of the execs at Cathey told me at an early 1990's trade show that there were approximately 10,000 made in all.

22. RH4 Cathey 4-5/8" Single-Six, Right hand New in white box with eagle bag... $150
23. RH6 Cathey 6-1/2" Single-Six, Right hand Lightly used but well cared for with brown box... $125 (Note that this was the first holster received circa 1977 so we know the Cathey's were early production).
24. RH6 Cathey 6-1/2" Single-Six, Left hand New in brown box... $150
25. HN6 Cathey 6-1/2" Blackhawk, Right hand Used but decent condition with white box and eagle bag... $125
26. HN8 Cathey 7-1/2" Blackhawk, Right hand New in white box... $150
27. HN7 Cathey 7-1/2" Old Army, Right hand Not used but has a mar on the outside at the top front of holster, still rare... $150

Pricing does not include postage.

As far as I know they are... but you need to call the owner... my dad who has them. Phone number is listed on the ad. Numbers 5, 17, 23 and 24. His phone number is 515-231-0674.

Chad,
Do you know how many Cathey holsters were made with the Buckeye logo?

Oooh... good question! I did a Holster article a long time ago. If I had an answer it would be in that article. But I need to think of what issue that was in from the last 41 years.
There were also two different colors... a light tan color and a dark brown color
