My 1V .280

Post by Rugerokie »

New to the forum and thought I’d share one of my favorite rifles. My father and I bought this 1V .280 as a boxed barreled action at the Market Hall show in Dallas sometime around 1986. Serial # is 132-66XXX. We sent it to Ruger to be fitted with a stock. I’d say they did us right with the wood they picked out. My father hunted with this gun for years. He had a large collection but eventually sold his nicer ones to Lee Newton. He always held on to this one. He’s in a nursing home now and has passed this beauty on to me. Took last years deer with it.

I've always thought this gun was somewhat of an anomaly. From what I recall .280 was only produced in the 1V for a couple of years in maybe 1980-81ish? This gun shows shipped in 1984. I'm assuming it was maybe a special order as a barreled action or possibly an over run that was sold off later. Either way we were glad to find it.
