Ruger New Blackhawk custom

Post by neadiscountgins »

I have a New Ruger Blackhawk from 1980. It has had some very nice custom work done by Clinton River Custom Guns. This gun has several 24 carat gold add ons that make it a beautiful gun. It is a convertible.357/.9mm. I have all the paper work showing it is number six out of twenty five. Does anyone have anymore information on these guns?

First, welcome to the forum. If I were you, I would get a Ruger Letter of Authenticity. It's not expensive ($10) and it will tell you when it was produced and where it was sent the first time. That will give you a good start.

I would also tell us the serial number (you can omit the last 2 or 3 digits if you want) that also helps the ROCS collectors who are familiar with that gun to maybe give you more info. Pictures also go a long way for people. One they can admire it and two, it may trigger someones memory and be another source of info.

As much onformation you can give ROCS members, the easier for folks to dig up information to pass to you.

Also, post a bit about yourself on the new members thread, we like to get to know our unknown Ruger lovers.

Ron,

Thanks so much for responding and giving me some leadership. As for my my name is Blake and I’m from Jonesboro Arkansas. I’m a home base FFL dealer and mainly do gun shows. I love doing shows to learn more about guns. I have always had great luck with Ruger and Ruger customer service. I do like to collect certain guns of all brands. I have attached pictures of the gun I was talking about. I would love to talk to an experienced Ruger collector for advice. Thanks in advance for any help.

Blake,
As soon as I saw the RCA certificate I knew what to tell you to start. RCA stands for Ruger Collectors' Association. This gun would have been made and cutomized for them to sell to members (or for some other reason).

I would start by contacting the RCA at https://www.rugercollectorsassociation.com/ and ask them about the gun. Join the RCA (trust me, you'll be glad you did) and the forum and post the info you posted here and see if a long time member can shed some light for you.

If you have not joined ROCS, I would do that also, between the two organizations, just about any question about Rugers will be answered and the magazines you get from them are outstanding.
