FBI Academy 50th Anniversary Security-Six

Post by 67stingray »

I recently picked up this FBI National Academy Golden Anniversary GA-36T. It came with package box including box and sleeve, display box, 1946 printed "The story of the FBI" picture book and the 1985 Directory of Academy graduates. These don't show up that often and seeing how I had an overrun gun in the safe they naturally belonged together. Other than the FBI markings these are distinctive from any other Six-Series I know of 1) The right side of the cylinder frame is not rollmarked "Ruger Security-Six" or trademark logo. 2) On the right side of the barrel there is an added "fat" Ruger rollmark like in the barrels of it's replacement the GP100. 3) Goncalo Alves smooth oversized grips.

Very nice indeed! I bet Jelly Bryce, Walter Walsh and Charles Winstead would approve.

Bennett, That's a great snag right there especially with the extras that were included. I'm jealous.

Thanks guys, I'm proud to have acquired it. From the research I've done, there's not a lot of information I've found. The fall 1984 RCA Journal listed they were being offered along with one with 2/3rds engraving coverage and a gold FBI seal along with a Mini-14 /20GB with inscriptions and stock medallion.

I did not know about the overrun guns. Very nice set. I do have the FBI cased version that I picked up a few years back. It's about 50 SN's lower than yours but only came with the display box, not all the rest. Very nice!
