The first slab side Mark 1
With the new RCA journal arriving to members featured on the back page is the first sample of the slab side barrel. As it reads Mr. Ruger instructed Phillip Sara to plane the sides. Manufactured in December 1969 records show it was shipped to Sara who worked at Ruger in tooling for 40 years until his retirement. Altho it started no sights it did when I became temporary custodian. The receiver is drilled and tapped explaining why it didn't have sights. Mr. Sara of Fairfield CT. Received the gun in January 1970 from Mr. Ruger. Just thought to add information for inquiring minds. It is a very interesting Mark 1.
